Recently, Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas announced they were an item (Demi, take the advice of Taylor Swift and get rid of your phone). This made me think of other times Disney Channel stars ever hooked up… entertainment-wise that is. Here’s 13 times where Disney Channel stars collaborated with other Disney Channel stars. Why 13? Cause I like PRIME NUMBERS! IT’S A PRIME LIST!
For The Lion King deluxe DVD release, a bunch of Disney Channel stars got together to sing the “Circle of Life.” This was when Disney Channel was in its prime. Hilary Duff, Christy Romano and Raven-Symone in the same shot? They were the Disney Channel queens until Demi/Selena stepped in. As awesomepants as this song is, two things stand out. One, why is the voice of Penny Proud there? I mean, you don’t actually ever see her face in The Proud Family. It’s a cartoon! And two, is it me or does Smart Guy Tahj Mowry have the same singing face in every shot? Surely he’s not lip syncing. Surely he’s not.
If it works once, why not do it again? For the Cinderella deluxe DVD release, the Disney Channel stars reunited to sing. However, Duff was done and Romano’s too busy doing Kim Possible, so time for the new kids to take over. Sheesh, big mistake, because these kids can’t sing! Ashley and Aly (sans AJ) holds their own, but Phil, Zack and Cody have so much auto-tune, you’d think they were white T-Pains. But that aside, it’s still has a catchy beat and its so cute to see the Disney tweens merge.
Just one question… WHY IS PENNY PROUD BACK? I’m kidding. Mad love for the Pratt. Keep rocking those Dr. Dolittle direct-to-DVD sequels.
It’s funny that the main characters from Disney Channel shows are the ones hyped up as singers, but one of my personal favorite Disney Channel songs stars the side character from Hannah Montana and the side character from Sonny with a Chance. This song (for the Disney Channel movie Hatching Pete in case you care, which you don’t) is peppy, catchy and just plain fun! Not about Idol-esque note holding or passionate messages. Just a freakin’ pop song with a band. Ah, Mitchell and Tiffany, you hold a special place in my Disney Channel heart. Thank you.
Sorry Conan O’Brien, but I have to be a little cynical here. You mean to tell me Demi Lovato announces she’s dating Joe Jonas… RIGHT AS THIS SONG COMES OUT??? What, you didn’t think Disney’s Oceans movie couldn’t carry it enough. And what the heck does “make a wave” mean anyway. In life? In the ocean? In your hair? Whatever, I’m going back to the Mitchell Musso/Tiffany Thornton song.
At the time this song came out, rumors were rampant. Miley hated Selena. Nick broke up with Miley. Nick hooked up with Selena. Demi may want to be more than BFFs with Selena. Okay, made the last one up. But all rumors were squashed when the Disney kids came together for this anthem for Disney’s Friends for Change program. So you see, there’s one thing that can stop petty bickering… your required obligation to volunteer from the Walt Disney Company.
Also, gotta feel bad for poor Selena Gomez here. Miley sings with boyfriend Nick, Demi sings with boyfriend Joe… and Selena’s stuck with Kevin, the wingman of the Disney Channel stars.
OMG, Selena and Demi are best friends. OMG, Selena and Demi should do a movie together called Princess Protection Program. OMG, Selena and Demi should DO A SONG FOR PRINCESS PROTECTION PROGRAM! OMG, Disney just made a crapload of cash off of former Barney kids.
Um, excuse me, shouldn’t this be “WE’VE Got the Party With Us.” I’m just saying. Let’s show the kids proper English.
Awesome, it’s the Mitchell Musso/Tiffany Thornton song again. Except that’s not Tiffany Thornton, that’s the female version of the kid in The Sixth Sense. And that’s the song from Monsters Inc. And that’s… ugh. Sorry Mitchell, stick with Tiffany and band geeks.
When you get the star of Hannah Montana and Cory in the House together, along with their best friend and brother respectively, what do you get the little tykes to do? Freestyle rap to a Dr. Dre beat and dance to a song that tells you to, quote, “Superman that ho.” Makes perfect sense to me.
Seriously Corbin, this was post High School Musical… 2! Aren’t you a little old to be skipping through the fields with MiCy. If you were a movie, you’d be on Lifetime. And I’d call Chris Hanson. And you would be in jail in the end. You’d be showering, dropping the soap then… let’s just stop the song parody here. It only gets worse.
Maddie’s school puts on a production of High School Musical and Maddie loses the part of Sharpay to London. YOU GET IT, BECAUSE THE ACTRESS THAT PLAYED MADDIE ALSO PLAYED SHARPAY! THAT’S FUNNY! This clip’s pretty funny, and best of all, neither Zack nor Cody sing during this performance. And you also get the gay kid from Ugly Betty. Bonus!
Blah blah blah, Miley Cyrus joke. Blah blah blah, Nick Jonas dating Miley Cyrus joke. Who cares? I just want to finish this list so I can go back to the Mitchell Musso/Tiffany Thornton song. “I don’t care what they say, I’ll just be me / The only person that I want to be…”
There’s so many I could’ve chosen for lucky 13. That’s So Suite Life of Hannah Montana or Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana or the upcoming (I’m fantasizing) I’m in the Suite Life of Zeke & Aaron Stone, So Good Luck Charlie in the House of Waverly Place.
But this trumps them all, an event that brings all your favorite stars together…. the Battle of the Network Stars… I mean Circus of the Stars… I mean Disney Channel Games. Running at least 3 summers straight, stars from various Disney Channel stars (except for the ones too big to do this) competed in sporting events of Double Dare like proportions to determine which Disney Channel kids are most athletic and which ones need to lose more weight. This clip is from its 1st year when it was awesome and I knew everyone on the teams. The following years they did International teams… BORING! Do I LOOK like I watch Disney Channel Australia???
Alright, that’s it. I’m done with list. Smart move making your Disney Channel kids work together. I hope other networks follow suit, cause the world needs an iCarly/True Jackson VP collaboration song. Now if you’ll excuse me, there’s a Mitchell Musso/Tiffany Thornton song that needs my undivided attention…
